                                   The Law Office of Carmen R. Matos, Esquire, specializes in employment law, personal injury, arbitration, unemployment compensation and mediation. Ms. Matos represents employees and employers. Ms. Matos, a 1980 graduate of Temple University School of Law, has thirty-one and a half years of legal experience, fifteen years working with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Philadelphia District Office litigating employment discrimination cases in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and New Jersey federal courts as Trial Attorney, Supervisory Trial Attorney and Acting Regional Attorney. At the EEOC, in 1989, Ms. Matos earned the highest award known as the Chairman's Award from now Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas due to her efforts in litigating a complex class action in West Virginia based on the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) for forty six claimants.

              Since 1995, she has been in private practice. Ms. Matos is known for her expertise in age discrimination having obtained several jury verdicts. In 1994, Ms. Matos worked on John Doe v. Kohn, Nast & Graf as EEOC counsel in the first AIDS disability case litigated by EEOC in federal court. Ms. Matos conducts training on various employment discrimination issues. She trained the Trainers at the Supreme Court of NJ in management liability for sexual harassment, trained managers in private companies on employment issues and trained EEOC nationwide staff on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Ms. Matos has published several articles on employment law in the Legal Intelligencer, Philadelphia. She frequently conducts employment law seminars for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Ms. Matos also investigates cases of discrimination. Since 2001, the EEOC certified Ms. Matos as a Mediator upon completion of training and volunteer mediations. She is involved in the Bucks County Bar Association, Inns of Court, American Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association and Hispanic Bar Association. She is fluent in Spanish and has a Master of Arts Degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature. She represents bilingual clients.
